MANILA, Philippines – On Tuesday, November 15, a total of twelve centenarians received P100,000 each from the provincial government of Negros Occidental.
Margarita Juros, Adelina Armenteros and Ana Gucio, Virginia Ayuno, Mamerta Cabataña, Brigida Galleron, Ramona Locsin, Herminigilda Donasco, Generosa Guimbal, Esterlina Ortega, Sarcepuedes, and Sixto Cerna, of different cities and towns, received the said financial assistance including certificates from the authorities.
The turn over was led by Board Members Araceli Somosa, Samson Mirhan, Sixto Pal Guanzon, Manuel Frederick Ko, Andrew Montelibano in the presence of Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr. of Cadiz, Mayor Narciso Javelosa of Sagay City and Mayor Gerry Rojas of Murcia, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and local Social Welfare and Development Offices.
Every November 5th, the provincial government recognizes the centenarians, as well as celebrating the Cinco de Noviembre in Negros Occidental.
Fortunately, after the suspension of cash gift giving for two years due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, the program has resumed.
