MANILA, Philippines – According to the local government of Iloilo City, as many as 174 houses were engulfed by a huge fire on Saturday, January 28.

Based on Iloilo City Government’s report yesterday, 6:00 p.m., the incident started at exactly 4:37 a.m in both Barangay Habog-habog and Barangay San Juan in Molo district.

In Barangay Habog-habog, 207 families or above 800 individuals, including 15 infants, 42 toddlers, 25 pre-schoolers, 112 individuals in school ages, 136 teenagers, 447 adults, and 33 senior citizens, were affected in the fire incident.

While in Barangay San Juan, the local government unit reported lower number of affected families.

91 families or above 300 individuals were affected, according to the LGU’s report, including 7 infants, 10 toddlers, 10 pre-schoolers, 27 individuals in school ages, 22 teenagers, 132 adults, and 17 senior citizens.

Some families stay in the evacuation centers in the area.

Yesterday, the Philippine Red Cross – Iloilo Chapter immediately extended assistance to the fire victims by deploying volunteers. The organization has provided hot meals and drinking water, as well as first aid management for those in need of medical attention.
