This Thursday, July 16, the Department of Education (DepEd) said that they are considering the possibility of allowing face-to-face classes in limited areas where COVID-19 transmission is at low risk.

The review came after the department received several proposals calling for the resumption of face-to-face classes in selected areas.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said the proposal has already been informed to President Rodrigo Duterte.

Areas that would be allowed to maintain restricted physical classes will also be investigated on pandemic response by the government’s inter-agency task force (IATF).

Briones said, the DepEd should still test if schools have adequate facilities for the safe conduct of face-to-face classes for students, such as adequate lavatories for hand washing, and sufficient room for physical distancing.

Opening of classes through online learning are planned to be set on August 24,2020.
