“Ginoo na lang bahala, Sir. Dili na pod mi mag-asa og hustisya kay pobre man ta—basta pobre walay hustisya—pero nakakita man ang Ginoo [sa nahitabo]. Ginoo na bahala sa ila, karmahon rana sila (Let the Lord take care of it, Sir. We are no longer expecting justice because we are poor—there’s no justice for the poor—but the Lord saw what happened. The Lord will take care of them, they will be punished),” said Joselyn Ferraren, mother of Paul John Dizon Ferraren, who was shot dead in broad daylight yesterday, August 11, at Piapi Boulevard, Barangay 25-C in Davao City.
She firmly believes her son is a decent person. However, she admitted that she did not know what her son was doing whenever he was with his friends.
She also voiced her outrage to the people responsible for his son’s passing. If her son was indeed involved in robbery and theft, she claimed that rather than have him killed, it would have been better to cut off one of his fingers because it would have given him the chance to repent.
She continued by saying that her family is currently having difficulty burying her son. Apart from that, they are struggling to care for and support the four kids he left behind.
It could be recalled that Sta. Ana Police Station Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel (PLt. Col.) Ronald Lao reported yesterday, August 11, that the deceased had a history of theft and robbery, and that he had recently been released from prison by the time he was killed.
The police are currently looking into the crime thoroughly, especially since they were able to obtain CCTV footage of the incident. They are exploring all motives, particularly his alleged involvement in robbery and theft.
