MANILA – Malacañang Palace opened its doors for the fourth annual Christmas party for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on Saturday, December 20, 2025, bringing together hundreds of balikbayans and their families for a festive celebration filled with music, food, games, and gifts. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos led the event, themed around gratitude for OFWs’ sacrifices and contributions to the nation.

The gathering featured performances from popular artists, traditional Filipino holiday treats like bibingka and puto bumbong, and raffle draws with prizes including appliances and cash. Marcos delivered a warm message: “You are our modern-day heroes—your hard work abroad builds our economy and inspires us at home. This party is our way of saying thank you and merry Christmas.”

Highlights included:

  • Photo Ops and Interactions: The President and First Lady mingled with attendees, posing for selfies and listening to OFW stories.
  • Gift-Giving: Each family received holiday hampers and tokens.
  • Cultural Touch: Caroling, parol displays, and a mini-Karaoke session.

The initiative, started under previous administrations but continued by Marcos, aims to honor OFWs during their holiday homecoming. With remittances hitting record highs in 2025, the event underscored their vital role.

For OFWs far from home most of the year, this Palace party isn’t just celebration—it’s recognition, a warm embrace saying “Welcome back, and thank you.”
