MAYNILA – Naghain ang tatlong mambabatas sa House of Representatives ng isang panukalang nagsusulong sa panghabambuhay na bisa ng mga pasaporte para sa mga senior citizen.
Layunin ng House Bill No. 6682, na akda ng mga mambabatas na sina Paolo Duterte, Edvic Yap, Eric Go Yap, at Jeffrey Soriano, na amyendahan ang Philippine Passport upang gawing lifetime ang bisa ng mga pasaporte na nailabas o na-renew para sa mga indibidwal na nasa 60-taong gulang.
“The 1987 Constitution guarantees the adoption of an integrated and comprehensive approach to the country’s elderly in terms of their health development as well as other social services at an affordable cost,” saad sa explanatory note ng naturang panukalang batas.
“Hence, in pursuit of providing convenience to the country’s senior citizens, mitigating the exorbitant prices of various services provided to them, and appreciating the elderly’s invaluable contribution to the nation’s rich history, there is a need to extend the said constitutional mandate even in the service of the application and renewal of the senior citizen’s passports,” dagdag pa ng mga may akda.
Nabanggit din ng mga mambabatas ang datos na ayon sa Commission on Population and Development, nasa 8.7 milyon ang bilang ng mga indibidwal na nasa 60-taong gulang pataas.
Nais din anilang iiwas ang mga matatanda mula sa mahigpit at mahabang proseso ng pag-renew at pag-apply para sa mga pasaporte dahilan ang kondisyon ng kalusugan sa katandaan.
