The local government of Pasig is set to distribute next month tablets and laptops to public school students and teachers, respectively, in a bid to help them comply with requirements of distance learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto said the tablets for students and laptops for teachers are expected to be delivered by Sept. 30, days before the 2020-2021 school year opens, and will be given to students and teachers starting October 1.

Sotto previously announced that the Pasig City government earmarked more than P1.3 billion to purchase laptops for teachers as well as tablets for students in the city public schools.

Aside from providing gadgets, Sotto said the local government also partnered with business school Thames International to train teachers for digital learning.

The “Nanay/Tatay Teacher workshop” was also held online to prepare parents for distance learning as well since they must assist their children with the learning modules.

The learning seminar for parents was aired on the Pasig public information office Facebook page.
