Legazpi City—The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) K9 Force seized a 10-wheeler wing van truck loaded with 72 bundles of undocumented used clothing at Matnog seaport in Sorsogon yesterday belated report here said.
The confiscated 10-wheeler wing van truck loaded with 72 bundles of undocumented used clothing according to PCG statement has an estimated market value of P66,600
The PCG Bicol said that the 10-wheeler truck driven by Rustom Galib, along with his companion, Kenneth Dalala, both residents of Caloocan City departed from Manila, going to General Santos City.
The authorities confiscated the bundles of undocumented used clothing for violating Republic Act 4653 or “an Act to safeguard the health of the people and maintain the dignity of the nation by declaring it a national policy to prohibit the commercial importation of textile articles commonly known as used clothing and rags.”
The confiscated used clothing bound to General Santos City is now under the custody of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Bicol.
The BOC took over the 10-wheeler wing van truck and confiscated the track load of ukay-ukay for proper disposition. While Galib and Dalala were given a greenlight to travel back home after the investigation.(Raydes B. Barcia)
