MANILA, Philippines – This Wednesday, January 11, some areas in Visayas and Mindanao suspended classes due to a low-pressure area that causes a bad weather.
No classes in all levels in the municipality of Argao in Cebu as its local government unit released a Memorandum Order that suspends the classes and other school-related activities in both public and private schools.
In the issued memorandum, it is said that this measure is released to ensure the safety of the students and to avoid and prevent possible accidents.
Aside from the abovementioned municipality, 11 other towns in the Province of Cebu including Cordova, Compostela, Alegria, San Remigio, Sogod, Santander, Bantayan Island, Daanbantayan, Madridejos, Ronda, and Camotes Islands have suspended the classes due to inclement weather according to a Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office via Cebu Daily News.
In Mindanao, all levels are also suspended in the following:
- Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental
- Aloran, Misamis Occidental
- Jimenez, Misamis Occidental
- Clarin, Misamis Occidental
- Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental
- Tudela, Misamis Occidental
- Panaon, Misamis Occidental
- Plaridel, Misamis Occidental
While the Lopez Jaena, Misamis Occidental only suspended the classes from Pre-school to Senior High School.
The low-pressure area was spotted about 575 kilometers east of Surigao City by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration this day, 11:00 a.m.
