The Social Security System in Cebu recently cracked down eight deliquent employers in Mandaue City for failure to remit SSS contributions and non-reporting of new employees worth P2.9 million.

SSS Vice-President of Central Visayas 1 Division Atty. Alberto L. Montalbo in a statement said that this is the second time that they staged an operation in Mandaue City to constantly remind the employers that SSS is closely monitoring their accounts.

“We will continue this operation to ensure their full compliance as well as the active SSS membership of their employees,” Montalbo said.

SSS’s Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in Mandaue City started last June 2019 where 13 erring employers were visited. Ten employers were able to fully comply with their obligation after the operation while three availed of the condonation program.

Montalbo added that the RACE campaign in 2019 yielded full compliance from the erring employers where majority are back to their good standing status with SSS.

“We are also expecting the same success rate in this second batch of employers with unpaid contributions since we are offering longer installment payment terms,” Montalbo said.

SSS is currently offering the PRRP 3: Enhanced Installment Payment Program to delinquent employers who are incapable of paying their delinquencies in full or have no other means to immediately settle their total obligation.

Under this program, they may pay their past-due contributions through installment terms ranging from nine to 60 months, depending on the total amount of delinquency.-(April Therese Tan)
