Swedish pole vault star Armand “Mondo” Duplantis thrilled a home crowd in Stockholm as he cleared a remarkable 6.28 meters at the Diamond League meet on Sunday—setting a new world record for the 12th time in his career.

The 25-year-old double Olympic champion, originally from the U.S., surpassed his own previous world-best by one centimeter on his very first attempt. With perfect weather and roaring fans at the historic Olympic Stadium, Duplantis lived up to his promise of attempting a record-breaking jump.

Australian Kurtis Marschall challenged Duplantis early on but topped out at 5.90 meters. With the field cleared, Duplantis seized the moment—delivering a flawless jump that sent the crowd into a frenzy. He celebrated by tearing off his singlet and embracing his family, marking the first time he set a world record on Swedish soil.

Meanwhile, in the women’s 400m hurdles, Dutch sprinter Femke Bol dominated with a season-best 52.11 seconds, outpacing American Dalilah Muhammad by nearly a full second.
