Filipino pole vaulter and Olympian EJ Obiena has once again dominated the Asian Athletics Championships, securing his third consecutive gold medal in the men’s pole vault event held in Gumi, South Korea.

Obiena cleared 5.77 meters in a dramatic jump-off against China’s Huang Bokai, after both athletes tied at 5.72 meters and failed to clear 5.82. Thailand’s Patsapong Amsamarng took bronze with a 5.67-meter vault.

This marks Obiena’s third straight title in the continental competition, following his victories in 2019 (Dubai) and 2023 (Bangkok). Fellow Filipino athlete Hokett Delos Santos placed 13th with a 4.97-meter finish.

Obiena’s consistent performance solidifies his position as Asia’s top pole vaulter and keeps momentum strong heading into future international competitions.
