The Senate has officially wrapped up its investigation into the alleged abuses of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy, according to Senator Risa Hontiveros, chair of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, and Gender Equality.

In an interview on Unang Balita, Hontiveros noted that Quiboloy finally appeared before the Senate after months of anticipation. “After all his drama, the appointed ‘Son of God’ is now the ‘arrested Son of God,'” she remarked.

The investigation, conducted in aid of legislation, sought to examine whether the country’s human trafficking laws adequately address large-scale trafficking under the guise of religious organizations. Quiboloy appeared in the Senate for the first time on Wednesday after being transferred from the PNP Custodial Center at Camp Crame.

Final Hearing and Accusations
Hontiveros said the hearing held on Wednesday marked the last session after seven months of waiting for Quiboloy’s appearance. The panel heard from victim-survivors, some of whom were new to the case. Quiboloy faces accusations of sexual abuse and threats against women who refused his advances.

The Davao police claim Quiboloy sexually abused 200 women, with the pastor allegedly aspiring to follow the biblical figure Solomon’s path of acquiring 1,000 women. Quiboloy has denied the allegations, challenging accusers to file cases against him in court.

He is currently facing non-bailable human trafficking charges and other related violations under Philippine law.
