MANILA, Philippines — Global index provider MSCI has maintained the composition of the MSCI Philippines Standard Index following its February 2026 review, while welcoming two new entries into its Small-Cap Index.

The changes, announced on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, are set to take effect after the close of trades on February 27, 2026.

MSCI Philippines Standard Index Highlights

  • No Additions or Deletions: The main index remains intact, confirming earlier market expectations.
  • Jollibee Stays In: Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) remains a constituent of the standard index.
  • Weight Increases: According to a research note from First Metro Securities, the biggest weight increases within this index were awarded to International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), BDO Unibank, and Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).
  • Weight Reductions: Conversely, Ayala Land, SM Investments, and SM Prime Holdings saw the largest reductions in their respective weights.

Small-Cap Index Changes The Philippine small-cap basket saw fresh interest with two new additions:

  1. Maynilad Water Services Inc.: Enters the index with a 5.09 percent weight.
  2. Apex Mining Co.: Joins the basket with a weight of approximately 2.63 percent.

Notable Adjustments in Small-Cap First Metro Securities noted that the steepest weight cuts in the small-cap segment were applied to JG Summit Holdings, GT Capital Holdings, and Universal Robina Corp. (URC).

Country Allocation On a broader scale, the Philippines’ overall weight in the global index saw a marginal slip of 0.001 percent.

Market Impact The inclusion in MSCI indices is a significant milestone for publicly listed companies, as it often triggers a surge in passive investment flows from global funds that track these benchmarks. The addition of Maynilad, following its recent IPO, and Apex Mining reflects growing international investor confidence in these specific sectors of the Philippine economy.

Traders are expected to adjust their positions ahead of the February 27 implementation date to align with the new weightings and constituents.
