Vice President Sara Duterte hosted a courtesy visit from Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea on Wednesday. The meeting took place at Duterte’s office in Mandaluyong City, where she also organized a luncheon in honor of the visiting official.
During their discussions, Duterte expressed her appreciation to the Cambodian government and its citizens for their support during her tenure as President of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Council. She also acknowledged Cambodia’s assistance in establishing the Philippine International School of Phnom Penh, the first Philippine Overseas School in the Mekong Region.
Duterte, who has been the Department of Education Secretary since her election as Vice President in 2022, stepped down from her position in July of this year.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) noted that Duterte and Sophea discussed a variety of bilateral issues and common challenges facing Southeast Asia, reflecting on Duterte’s previous engagements with other high-ranking officials in the region.
