Legazpi City —At least 11 passengers were rescued after a motorized boat capsized in the waters off San Sebastian, Lagonoy, town in Camarines Sur due to big waves brought by the shear line weather disturbance in Bicol for several weeks now.
In a report released by PCB Bicol said that its Coast Guard Sub-station in Sabang under Coast Guard Station Camarines Sur assisted 11 passengers including the boat captain of motor banca that capsized in the waters off San Sebastian, Lagonoy, Camarines Sur over the weekend here.
Report said that on 05:45 pm the CGSS Sabang received a call from Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) Presentacion informing motorbanca DONG-S carrying 10 passengers was capsized at vicinity waters off San Sebastian, Lagonoy, Camarines Sur.
According to the boat captain, Salvador Alvarez they departed ay Barangay Baliguin, in Presentacion town at around 09:00 am en route to Barangay Dolo, San Jose.
At around 11:00 am while at the vicinity waters off San Sebastian, Lagonoy, they was battered by big waves, causing the motorbanca to capsized.
Luckily, a motorbanca transiting in the area were able to rescued the passengers and was brought to Sabang Port.
The Coast Guard Sub-station Sabang Deployable Response Team (DRT) immediately proceeding at the berthing area of Sabang Port to render necessary assistance.
Upon arrival, the CGSS Sabang deployable response team checked the health status of all rescued individuals and they were all in good physical condition.
After health assessment, the team conducted initial investigation about the maritime incident.
The Coast Guard Sub-station of Sabang also made coordination to the coastal Barangay Council to remind their constituents not to venture out of the sea during heavy and unfavourable weather condition.
