QUEZON, Philippines – Authorities have apprehended 42 Chinese nationals staying at a resort on Alabat Island, Quezon, with several found to be either undocumented or working without legal permits.
According to a report by John Consulta on Saksi, the Police Regional Office 4A received a tip-off about groups of Chinese men arriving on the island via roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels. Notably, they remained inside their van during the entire ferry trip, raising suspicion.
The men, who had been living and working at the resort located near tourist areas, are now under the custody of the Bureau of Immigration (BI). BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval confirmed that many lacked the necessary documentation or permits to work in the country.
The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission is now probing whether these individuals were previously employed in Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs), particularly those who may have fled from Porac, Pampanga, and other locations.
Deportation proceedings have begun, and all those involved will be blacklisted from reentering the Philippines.
