MANILA, Philippines — Singer and businessman Jojo Mendrez has officially signed a contract to produce the upcoming PMPC Star Awards for Movies and Star Awards for Television ceremonies.

The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) announced the partnership on Friday, February 20, 2026, following a formal signing ceremony with Mendrez, PMPC President Fernan de Guzman, and other board members.

Key Details:

  • Proven Track Record: PMPC President Fernan de Guzman cited Mendrez’s experience in mounting major concerts—including shows for Sharon Cuneta, Ogie Alcasid, and Pops Fernandez—as a primary reason for his selection.
  • Music Release: Alongside his production duties, Mendrez is set to release a revival of the song “Valentine” (originally by Martina McBride and Jim Brickman).
  • Mark Herras Controversy: Mendrez briefly addressed his past rift with actor Mark Herras. He offered advice regarding Herras’ recent emotional social media posts, suggesting that the actor should “cry in private,” though he noted he is open to having the StarStruck winner perform at the upcoming Star Awards.

Further details regarding the schedule and venue for the two awards ceremonies are expected to be announced soon.
