President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., chairing the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board, has approved Phase 1 of the Philippine Health System Resilience Project, with a budget of ₱27.9 billion. The initiative, which applies key lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to strengthen health systems across 17 priority provinces.
Marcos highlighted the project’s focus on building a healthcare infrastructure capable of handling future pandemics and emergencies. He emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare nationwide, ensuring Filipinos can rely on robust health services during critical times.
The project will concentrate on enhancing prevention, preparedness, and response to health emergencies in underserved areas. As part of the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028, it will also address project management, monitoring, and a Contingency Emergency Response Component (CERC).
