The latest OCTA Research survey shows an increase in trust and performance ratings for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., while Vice President Sara Duterte has experienced a dip in her numbers.
According to the second quarter Tugon ng Masa (TNM) Survey released on Tuesday, 71% of adult Filipinos expressed trust in President Marcos, a slight improvement from the 69% recorded in the first quarter of 2024. In contrast, Vice President Duterte’s trust rating fell to 65%, down from 68%.
“This marks the second consecutive quarter of declining trust ratings for Duterte, continuing a downward trend since the 4th quarter TNM survey conducted in December 2023,” OCTA noted.
The survey also highlighted that this is the first time President Marcos has achieved a higher trust and performance rating than Vice President Duterte-Carpio in the past three years.
In terms of performance, President Marcos received a 68% satisfaction rating from adult Filipinos, a 3% increase from the previous quarter’s 65%. On the other hand, Vice President Duterte’s performance rating declined to 60%, down from 64%. This is also the second consecutive quarter of decline in her performance ratings.
Regionally, Marcos achieved his highest trust and performance ratings in Balance Luzon, with 80% and 74%, respectively. His lowest ratings were in Mindanao, where he scored 56% for both trust and performance. In contrast, Duterte’s highest ratings came from Mindanao, with 95% for trust and 92% for performance. Her lowest ratings were in Balance Luzon, with 52% trust and 42% performance.
By socio-economic class, President Marcos received his highest trust and performance ratings from Class ABC, at 74% and 71%, respectively. His lowest ratings were among Class E, at 66% and 64%. Conversely, Vice President Duterte’s highest ratings were from Class E, with 68% trust and 65% performance, while her lowest were from Class ABC, at 64% and 56%.
The survey was conducted from June 30 to July 5, 2024, using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 male and female respondents aged 18 and above. The results have a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level, with geographic areas such as Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao having a ±6% margin of error.
