Anthony Davis and LeBron James powered the Los Angeles Lakers to a 118-108 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
Davis delivered a dominant performance with 36 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals, while James recorded a double-double with 25 points and a game-high 12 assists. Their combined 61 points led the Lakers to their third straight win and a 2-0 season record against the Warriors, both victories coming on the road.
Tight Contest Until Lakers’ Fourth-Quarter Burst
The game remained close through three quarters, with the Lakers holding a narrow 91-85 lead early in the fourth. LeBron sparked a decisive 9-2 run with a layup, followed by another basket and a key 3-pointer from Dorian Finney-Smith, making his debut against the Warriors as a Laker. This surge gave Los Angeles a 100-87 advantage, and the Warriors never recovered.
Davis sealed the victory with 10 points in the final minutes, capping off a stellar night.
Warriors Struggle, Curry Goes Cold
Andrew Wiggins led Golden State with 20 points, while Brandin Podziemski contributed 17 and Gary Payton II added 12. Stephen Curry had an off night, missing all eight of his second-half shots and finishing with just 13 points, though he added a team-high nine assists.
Golden State outscored Los Angeles 48-30 from beyond the arc, with six Warriors hitting at least two 3-pointers, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their struggles inside.
Lakers’ Supporting Cast Shines
The Lakers shot an impressive 54.7% from the field, with Davis going 13-for-23 and James 12-for-25. Ten of Davis’ points came at the free-throw line, where he shot 10-for-12.
Austin Reaves contributed 16 points, while Dalton Knecht and Max Christie added 13 and 11, respectively, giving the Lakers’ supporting cast a significant boost.
The win follows an impressive victory over the Boston Celtics earlier in the week, further solidifying the Lakers’ strong form.
What’s Next?
The Lakers continue their road trip riding a wave of momentum, while the Warriors aim to bounce back after losing three of their last four games.
