MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has repeatedly denied reports questioning President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s health, asserting that he remains healthy, capable, and actively performing his duties despite recent medical concerns and social media speculation.
The Palace has labeled several online claims about the President’s health as fake news, including rumors that he was hospitalized again or was scheduled for surgery. In response, Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos was attending meetings and carrying out official functions, not being treated in a hospital, and that reports of sudden hospitalization or severe illness were inaccurate.
Earlier this year, Marcos spent a night under medical observation for diverticulitis, a non‑life‑threatening inflammation of the intestine, after experiencing discomfort. Officials said he was advised to rest temporarily but emphasized that the condition was stable and not expected to interfere with his work.
The Palace has also condemned fabricated medical reports circulating online, calling them “malicious” and in violation of privacy laws. Malacañang encouraged the public to rely only on official statements and verified sources rather than unverified social media claims about the President’s health.
In addition to addressing rumors about hospital stays or surgery, Palace representatives recently commented on observations of a mild cold while Marcos was abroad, stating that he was “okay” despite showing minor symptoms likely related to weather conditions, and assuring that such common ailments had no impact on his ability to fulfill his duties.
