Moalboal, Cebu Mayor Paz Rozgoni has approved a Resolution putting their Pescador Island to a temporarily closure for a period of three months starting January 18, 2022.

“Resolved, as it is hereby resolved, to impose as it is hereby imposed, temporary closure of Pescador Island of Moalboal, Cebu from diving, island hopping and all similar aqua sports activities for a period of three months to give for the corals and marine life in the area to rehabilitate after it was ravaged by Typhoon Odette,” the Resolution reads. 

Pescador Island is considered is considered as one of the most beautiful diving spot in the world.

When Typhoon Odette struck Cebu on December 16, 2021, the town was also badly hit and due to its severity of the typhoon’s destruction, the corals and other marine life in the island was badly destroyed.

“Imposing a no diving and no snorkeling area at Pescador Island for a period of three months will provide best opportunity for the reef ecosystem to start its recovery,” the Resolution stated.
