The Supreme Court (SC) has denied the immediate temporary restraining order (TRO) sought by former President Rodrigo Duterte to halt his arrest over charges of crimes against humanity before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In a notice released Friday, the SC confirmed that on March 12, it rejected the plea from Duterte and Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. Their petition aimed to prevent government agencies from cooperating with the ICC’s investigation into the controversial war on drugs.

The petition was filed on the same day Duterte was arrested under an ICC-issued warrant, following a request from Interpol.

Duterte is currently in the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands, where he faces legal proceedings related to the drug war campaign led during his presidency.
