Legazpi City—The Philippine National Police in Sorsogon City apprehended a local candidate running for city councilor due to violation of Comelec gun ban on Friday here.
Apprehended was Angeles Laroga Apin, 49, alias Maestro Obet, a resident of Cattleya 2 Homes Subdivision Barangay Bibincahan, Sorsogon City.
Apin is an aspiring municipal councilor of West District, Sorsogon City for the upcoming synchronized national and local 2022 elections.
He was nabbed by the members of the PNP Sorsogon City at 3:10 a.m. on Friday at Barangay Bulabog, West District while the members of the PNP personnel are conducting Comelec checkpoint, report reaching at Camp General Semion Ola here.
Police Lt. Col. Virgil B. Bibat, officer-in-charge of Sorsogon City said his men conducted a Comelec checkpoint within the West District area when Police Lieutenant Jude Nario apprehended Apin for violation of RA 10591 or Comelec gun ban.
Recovered from the aspiring city councilor of Sorsogon City were one unit of Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with chamber load inserted one magazine with 11 live ammos; one black sling bag containing ten pieces of live ammunition of 9mm placed inside eyeglass case; and one unit MC Honda XRM motorcycle with temporary plate no. 050110.
Apin was currently under police custody for documentation and proper disposition, police report said.(Raydes Barcia)
