The Social Security System (SSS) held its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign in Danao City and Carmen, Cebu recently August 25, marking its 10th operation in Cebu and Bohol provinces since March 2022.

Written orders were issued to nine delinquent establishments due to the non-remittance of SSS contributions amounting to

P 10.10 million inclusive of penalties, affecting 182 employees.

Among the employers who were subjected to RACE operation are gasoline stations, schools, restaurants, resto-bars, cable TV providers, furniture manufacturers, LPG retailers, and a weaving establishment.

“While most business operations here have started to recover already, we still received reports that there are employers who erred in the compliance of their legal obligations with SSS. That’s why we have been visiting every city and municipality of Cebu to safeguard the welfare of our members as well as to help these erring employers settle their obligations conveniently through our Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program (PRRP),” SSS Vice President for Visayas Central 1 Atty. Alberto L. Montalbo said in a press statement.

Montalbo added that SSS-Cebu has already visited over 70 delinquent employers to which hundreds of employees are expected to benefit from the campaign.

“There were employers who fully settled their obligations right after our visit with a recorded collections amounting to P3.5 million. As of July, we recorded 74% compliance from the employers that we subjected to our RACE operations. However, there were some who disregarded our notice which left us with no other option but to refer them to our legal department for filing of criminal charges,” Montalbo further said.
