Kathryn Bernardo was the highlight of the 72nd Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards, securing her first Best Actress award for her role in “A Very Good Girl.” Held at the Manila Hotel on May 26, the event honored the stars and filmmakers behind this year’s notable films.

In her acceptance speech, Bernardo expressed her gratitude and shared her journey with the film. “This is my first FAMAS award. Thank you so much po FAMAS. When I was cast in ‘A Very Good Girl,’ I didn’t expect to receive awards or nominations. I accepted the project because I believed in the material. I believed in the people working with me. I’m very happy because I was allowed to be part of this kind of film,” she said. She dedicated her award to the entire team behind the film and her co-star Dolly de Leon, thanking them for their hard work and passion.

Other major winners of the night included Piolo Pascual for “Mallari” and Alfred Vargas for “Pieta” who both took home Best Actor awards. Gloria Diaz won Best Supporting Actress for “Mallari,” while L.A. Santos received the Best Supporting Actor award for “In His Mother’s Eyes.” The Best Child Actor award went to Euwenn Mikaell for “Firefly,” and Elia Ilano was named Best Child Actress for “Ghost Tales.”

The event also featured a heartfelt reunion of celebrities, including Dingdong Dantes, who shared candid moments on his Instagram Stories with fellow stars such as Marian Rivera, Alden Richards, and Coco Martin. Dantes, who was a Best Actor nominee, captured the camaraderie and joy shared among the attendees.

Fans of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, fondly known as KathDen, were treated to sweet moments between the two, further delighting their supporters.

Cedrick Juan, a nominee for Best Actor for his role in “GomBurZa,” took to Instagram to express his pride in the film and its dedication to Filipino history. He highlighted the importance of their work and the recognition it has received.

Other notable attendees included Enchong Dee, Vilma Santos, Christopher de Leon, and Charo Santos-Concio, making the night a grand celebration of the Philippine film industry.
