
PASAY CITY, Philippines — The De La Salle University Lady Spikers maintained their unbeaten run in UAAP Season 88 on Sunday, February 22, 2026, delivering a clinical sweep of the UST Golden Tigresses at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Led by team captain Shevana Laput, the Lady Spikers dominated the first two sets before fending off a late Tigress surge in the third to finish the match at 25-14, 25-15, 26-24.
Match Highlights:
- Laput’s Leadership: The Filipino-Australian spiker notched 21 points (17 kills, 4 blocks). With UST reaching set point in the third, Laput delivered two consecutive blocks and a game-winning drop to seal the victory.
- Supportive Firepower: Angel Canino added 13 points, while rookie setter Eshana Nunag orchestrated the offense with 16 excellent sets.
- UST Struggles: Despite a spark from Xyza Gula in the third set, the Tigresses fell to a 0-2 start for the season.

UP Maroons Snap Rivalry Losing Streak
In the second match of the day, the UP Fighting Maroons pulled off a massive comeback to defeat the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the “Battle of Katipunan.”
After trailing by two sets, the Maroons willed themselves to a 17-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 16-14 victory.
- Ending the Drought: This was UP’s first win against Ateneo since 2018 (Season 80).
- Ytang’s Stand: Graduating middle blocker Niña Ytang led the charge with 15 points.
