MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that 11 Filipinos have safely evacuated from Iran as tensions and conflict continue to escalate in parts of the Middle East.
According to the DFA, the group successfully crossed the border from Iran into Van, Turkey, where they are currently safe while receiving assistance from Philippine authorities.
The evacuation was conducted as part of the government’s efforts to protect overseas Filipinos living in areas affected by the ongoing conflict. Philippine diplomatic missions coordinated closely to ensure that the evacuation was carried out safely.
Officials said the group was assisted during their travel out of Iran and is now being supported by Philippine government representatives while arrangements are made for their next steps.
The Philippine government has been closely monitoring developments in the region and remains ready to assist Filipinos who may be affected by the situation.
Authorities have also advised Filipinos in Iran and nearby countries to stay alert, follow safety advisories, and maintain communication with Philippine embassies and consulates for updates and possible assistance.
With tensions continuing in the Middle East, officials said contingency plans are in place should more evacuations become necessary to ensure the safety of Filipino nationals abroad.
The government assured the public that it will continue monitoring the situation and providing assistance to overseas Filipinos who may need support during the crisis.
