ZAMBOANGA CITY — A tragic accident during the 2024 Council Scout Jamboree in Pasonanca’s Climaco Freedom Park claimed the lives of three boy scouts and left 12 others injured on Thursday, December 12.
According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the electrocution occurred as the scouts were moving their tent to another area. The tent accidentally made contact with a live wire, leading to the fatal incident.
The injured scouts sustained electrical burns but are reportedly in stable condition, authorities said.
As a precaution, the local government canceled the four-day event, which was set to run from December 12 to 15 and expected to gather approximately 2,000 scouts.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
