A five-seater plane was damaged at Basco Airport in Batanes due to strong winds brought by Typhoon Julian, according to a report by GMA Integrated News’ Jonathan Andal.
Batanes Governor Marilou Cayco provided a photo of the damaged aircraft, noting that despite being secured to two trucks last Friday, the intense winds overnight and early Monday morning caused significant damage.
“The wind was really strong last night and this morning,” Cayco said.
Typhoon Julian has been affecting the province since Sunday night, prompting evacuations as it intensifies. Batanes remains under Signal No. 4, with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warning that Julian may develop into a super typhoon later this evening.
