A recent survey by OCTA Research shows that 57% of Filipinos are against legalizing divorce in the Philippines, a slight increase from 51% in the previous year’s survey. The “Tugon ng Masa” survey, released on Friday, also indicates that 39% of Filipinos support divorce legalization, while 4% remain undecided.

Opposition to divorce is strongest in Balanced Luzon (61%), followed by Mindanao (57%), Metro Manila (50%), and the Visayas (49%). Conversely, support for divorce is highest in the Visayas at 50%, with Metro Manila following at 46%.

The survey also highlights socioeconomic divisions, with opposition highest among Classes D and E (58%), while support is more prominent among Classes A, B, and C (53%).

In terms of electoral impact, 55% of respondents stated they would not vote for a candidate who advocates for divorce legalization, while 39% would, and 5% are undecided.

The survey was conducted among 1,200 adult Filipinos from June 26 to July 1, with a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
