A 65-year-old man collapsed and died shortly after voting in Barangay Ilaor Sur, Oas, Albay on Monday morning during the 2025 national elections, the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) confirmed.

According to PRO5 spokesperson Police Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, the incident occurred at 6:05 a.m. and was confirmed to be a heart attack.

The man, identified as Nestor Rensales, had just completed voting when he began to feel dizzy and informed his wife. Moments later, he lost consciousness inside the polling precinct.

Emergency responders provided first aid and rushed him to Josefina Belmonte Duran Albay Provincial Hospital in Ligao City. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival.

Police noted that Rensales had a prior history of stroke, which may have contributed to the fatal incident.
