A total of 87 people were reported killed or missing following an Israeli airstrike on Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza on Saturday, according to Gaza’s health ministry. More than 40 others were wounded in one of the deadliest strikes in recent months. Rescue operations were hindered due to communications issues and ongoing Israeli military activity in the area.

The Israeli military stated it was investigating the incident, with initial reports from Hamas media claiming 73 casualties. The military suggested the figure might be exaggerated, considering the munitions used targeted a Hamas position.

The strike occurred amid a large Israeli operation in nearby Jabalia aimed at eradicating Hamas fighters. The operation has left much of Gaza devastated, with over 42,600 Palestinians killed during Israel’s ground offensive, as reported by Gaza’s health ministry.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has worsened, with significant shortages of food, fuel, and medical supplies in the remaining hospitals. Despite international calls to protect civilians, the conflict continues with mounting casualties.
