Jacob Cortez, a rising star in Philippine collegiate basketball, has officially announced his transfer to De La Salle University (DLSU), joining the Green Archers. This move comes just a day after Cortez declared his departure from San Beda University. The news was confirmed to GMA Integrated News on January 12, 2024.

Cortez is no stranger to La Salle colors, having played for La Salle Green Hills in high school before transferring to the University of Santo Tomas. This latest transition marks a return to his roots, as his father, Mike Cortez, was a celebrated player for La Salle, leading the team to UAAP championships in 2000 and 2001.

As he embarks on this new journey, Jacob will undergo one season of residency before becoming eligible to play in UAAP Season 88. His remarkable performance in NCAA Season 99, with averages of 15.39 points, 3.56 rebounds, 3.44 assists, and 1.17 steals per game, underscores his potential as a valuable asset to the Green Archers.

La Salle, having clinched the UAAP men’s basketball title in December and ending a seven-year drought, eagerly anticipates Cortez’s contribution in the coming seasons. His addition is expected to bolster the team’s lineup and drive towards continued success.

This transfer signifies a promising future for both Jacob Cortez and the DLSU Green Archers, as they prepare for the challenges and opportunities of the upcoming UAAP seasons.
