The incident occurred when Khomenie Alauya, the rider, was involved in an accident on a flyover. Alauya, who was attempting to assist another rider at the time, suffered a collision that led to his motorcycle catching fire.
The accident had far-reaching consequences for Alauya. He became separated from his family, who moved to Mindanao, following a decision by his wife to part ways. This left Alauya, a father of three with two children still in elementary school, to face the challenges alone. Despite these difficulties, he remained determined, viewing these trials as a test of his resilience.
Alauya’s fortunes took a positive turn on the 24th anniversary of “Unang Hirit,” when the show’s hosts, Shaira Diaz and Mariz Umali, traveled to Malabon City to surprise him with a new black motorcycle and a protective helmet. Overwhelmed with emotion, Alauya expressed deep gratitude for the gesture, reflecting his hope to reunite with his family and thanking the morning show for their incredible support.
