SAN FRANCISCO, AGUSAN DEL SUR — The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) has reached a historic milestone after being officially granted university status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The institution will now be known as the Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU).
The transition was formalized via CHED Commission En Banc Resolution No. 060-2026, confirming that the school has met all institutional requirements, including rigorous standards for academic programs, research capability, faculty qualifications, and governance.
- Legislative Root: The conversion was mandated by Republic Act No. 11586, which originated from House Bill No. 7019 authored by Rep. Adolph Edward Plaza.
- Regional Context: ADSSU becomes the third state university in the Caraga region, joining Caraga State University (Butuan City) and Northeastern Mindanao State University (Tandag City).
