Ahod Ebrahim, the former interim chief minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), has turned down his appointment as a member of the Bangsamoro Parliament.
In a statement released Monday, Ebrahim expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for the offer but said he “respectfully declined” the appointment. He did not provide a reason for his decision.
The new members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament were sworn in over the weekend by newly appointed BARMM Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua in Manila. The BTA functions as BARMM’s interim government, holding both legislative and executive powers under Republic Act No. 11054.
Ebrahim assured continued leadership of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and its political arm, the United Bangsamoro Justice Party, while pledging guidance and support for Macacua’s administration.
He also extended congratulations to Macacua, highlighting his long-standing dedication to peace and development in the Bangsamoro region.
