Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is keeping her Wimbledon hopes alive as she enters the women’s doubles tournament alongside German partner Eva Lys.
Eala, currently ranked 56th in the WTA, will make her Wimbledon doubles debut tonight at 7:10 p.m. as she and Lys face the duo of Brazil’s Ingrid Martins and the USA’s Quinn Gleason.
Eva Lys, WTA world no. 61, is a 23-year-old German player who began her professional career on the ITF Circuit in 2016. She recently exited the Wimbledon singles tournament following a second-round loss to Czech player Linda Noskova.
Their opponents, Martins and Gleason, are experienced doubles specialists. Martins, 28, holds a doubles ranking of no. 80, while 30-year-old Gleason is ranked 70.
Eala, who showed determination in her singles debut earlier this week against defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, is now looking to make a mark in doubles play at the All England Club.
