Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo appeared before the Department of Justice on Wednesday to personally submit her counter-affidavits addressing multiple complaints, including tax evasion, document falsification, and graft.
Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping, arrived under tight security and tactical protection. Her lawyer, Atty. Nicole Jamilla, confirmed the filings and reiterated Guo’s denial of all accusations.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) had earlier accused Guo of failing to pay ₱500,000 in taxes in a complaint lodged in August 2024. Guo’s camp refuted the claims, asserting that no taxable gains were made.
In addition, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed three charges of document falsification in March 2025, related to property sales. Guo’s legal team emphasized that she is a Filipino citizen and denied any wrongdoing in her property acquisitions.
Another graft case was filed by the NBI and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, tied to permit issuances during her mayoral term. Jamilla stated that Guo was simply fulfilling her responsibilities as mayor and was not involved in any illicit transactions.
The DOJ is set to continue its hearings in early June.
Guo remains in detention at Pasig City Jail while facing separate cases in various courts, including charges of trafficking, graft, misrepresentation, and a quo warranto petition questioning her citizenship.
