The administration-aligned coalition Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas on Friday expressed full support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to investigate water service provider PrimeWater, even as it reaffirmed its backing of Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar.
Villar, whose family owns PrimeWater, remains part of Alyansa’s lineup for the 2025 elections, according to campaign manager Toby Tiangco. He emphasized that all inquiries must be based on facts and aimed at ensuring service providers meet public needs.
“We respect Representative Villar’s public service record and are confident she supports transparency and accountability,” said Tiangco.
PrimeWater has faced mounting complaints over alleged poor water service in several areas. Alyansa stressed the need to address such concerns through fair and transparent investigations.
“Water is a fundamental necessity. Any provider falling short must be reviewed promptly and fairly,” Tiangco added.
Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte accused Malacañang of politically targeting Villar, claiming that the investigation may be linked to her endorsement as a senatorial candidate. Duterte criticized the administration, alleging its actions are politically driven rather than geared toward national progress.
Malacañang has yet to issue a direct response but previously said their support for Villar is contingent on her performance.
