The Philippine National Police (PNP) transferred Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy to the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory on Wednesday afternoon, following a court order issued on November 22.
From Custodial Center to Pasig Jail
PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo confirmed the transfer, stating that Quiboloy left the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame at 5:05 PM. A security convoy escorted the religious leader to the detention facility.
Quiboloy had been detained at Camp Crame and previously received medical care at the Philippine Heart Center on November 8 after experiencing chest discomfort.
Charges Against Quiboloy
The self-proclaimed “Son of God” is facing serious legal charges, including non-bailable qualified human trafficking under Republic Act No. 9208, as amended. He is also accused of violations under Republic Act No. 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
Living Conditions in Pasig Jail
Upon arrival, Quiboloy was placed in a holding cell for observation before being moved to a regular cell. He will share a 20-square-meter prison cell with 35 other inmates, despite its ideal capacity being only five. The Pasig City Jail has a reported congestion rate of 481%.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) assured there would be no special treatment for Quiboloy.
“Hindi po natin pinahihintulutan yung mga special na treatment po na yun. Kahit na sino mang [Person Deprived of Liberty], wala exemption yun,” BJMP spokesperson Jail Senior Inspector Princess Miguel said.
Legal Team and Outlook
Quiboloy’s lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon, described his client as “resilient and fighting” amid the legal battles.
“If it’s the will of the father, I will follow,” Torreon quoted Quiboloy as saying, adding that the defense team’s motion for reconsideration remains pending.
