Swedish pole vault sensation Armand Duplantis has once again rewritten history, clearing 6.27 meters to set a new world record at the All Star Perche meet in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
The two-time Olympic and world champion broke his previous record of 6.26m, set in Silesia last August, on his first attempt. The record-breaking moment was met with fireworks as the 25-year-old continued his dominance in the sport.
“I just felt really good. What can I say, I came here to do it,” Duplantis said after the jump.
The competition also saw Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis finish second with a national record clearance of 6.02m. In an unprecedented feat, six athletes cleared 5.91m or higher in the same event.
Duplantis, who earlier released his first song Bop under his artist name “Mondo,” had the track played as he made his historic jump. He has now broken the world record 11 times since 2020, improving it by one centimeter each time.
