Quezon City officials say that the African Swine Fever (ASF) cases detected in La Loma — known as the “lechon capital” — are isolated and contained. Fourteen lechon establishments in the area were temporarily shut down after some hogs tested positive.
City authorities have already begun disinfection efforts and set up checkpoints to monitor the entry and movement of pigs in and out of La Loma.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) has reassured the public that lechon from BAI-accredited stores remains safe to consume.
