Barbie Forteza delivered an emotional poem about loving and fighting for the Philippines on Independence Day, giving viewers goosebumps.

In a video titled “Ipaglaban ang ating Inang Bayan,” posted by GMA Network on YouTube, the Kapuso Primetime Princess is seen in a floral 1940s-inspired dress and accessories. The video begins with Barbie writing in a diary, then transitions to her speaking about a lover always by her side, her caring parents, and finally, her country.

With tears in her eyes, Barbie expressed her anger at the country’s struggles against powerful forces and her willingness to sacrifice her life for true freedom. The award-winning actress showcased her range and skills in the one-minute and 30-second video, earning praise from fans for her heartfelt performance.

Upcoming Series: Pulang Araw

Barbie Forteza stars in the much-awaited series “Pulang Araw,” portraying Adelina, a strong and courageous vaudeville star. The series follows the intertwined lives of four childhood friends—Adelina (Barbie), Teresita (Sanya Lopez), Hiroshi (David Licauco), and Eduardo (Alden Richards). As war ravages their homeland and Japanese forces occupy the Philippines, their dreams, friendships, and loyalties are tested, leading them on a journey of self-discovery and resilience.

The cast also includes Dennis Trillo in his first major kontrabida role, alongside Rhian Ramos. “Pulang Araw” will premiere on Netflix on July 26 and GMA Prime on July 29.
