Bianca King recently shared insights into her life in Australia, a move that started unintentionally when she was caught in a lockdown during the pandemic. In a heartfelt conversation with Nelson Canlas for “24 Oras Weekend,” the actress revealed the complexities of settling abroad, her journey into motherhood, and finding a balance between family life and personal well-being.

The transition to life in Australia became permanent when Bianca married Ralph Wintle and welcomed their daughter, Sadie. Despite the joy of building a family, Bianca faced significant challenges, including battling postpartum depression. “During pregnancy, that was a different story. I think postpartum was an entirely different story as well. It wasn’t the easiest experience for me, and motherhood in the earliest days of postpartum is so isolating already,” she explained.

Adding to her challenges, Bianca described the loneliness compounded by her surroundings: “Imagine a woman in a foreign country without family, without close friends nearby. It was very tough for me.”

Financial strains also emerged as Bianca and Ralph had to move from their Sydney home due to rising rent costs after Sadie’s birth. Despite these hurdles, Bianca has found ways to thrive and prioritize her well-being, engaging in hobbies like pilates and pottery, which she emphasized as crucial for maintaining her mental health. “There comes a point also that you have to strike a balance. Mama has to fill her cup. It’s not possible to just focus on family and neglect your own interests and hobbies,” she remarked.

Reflecting on what she misses about the Philippines, Bianca expressed a longing for the warm tropical waters and the ease of connecting with friends and engaging in familiar activities. Her story highlights the resilience and adaptive nature required when navigating life in a new country, balancing the roles of motherhood, personal interests, and the inevitable nostalgia for home.
