INDIO, California — P-pop powerhouse BINI concluded their historic two-week stint at Coachella 2026 with a powerful statement of national pride. As the members—Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, and Sheena—joined hands for their final bow, a massive Philippine flag was flashed on the digital backdrop, a moment the group described as a deliberate choice to highlight Filipino representation on the global stage.
In an interview with TV Patrol aired on April 20, the “Nation’s Girl Group” shared that they specifically requested the flag’s appearance following their group logo at the end of the set.
For the members, the sight of the flag was the emotional pinnacle of their performance.
- Maloi emphasized the importance of visibility: “Representation really matters talaga na makita ‘yung kapwa Pinoy who made it to the global stage.”
- Sheena recalled the audience’s reaction: “After ng set namin, nag-iiyakan lahat ng tao. Pagtingin namin sa mga videos at pictures, sobrang ganda pala tignan.”
One of the most talked-about moments of their set was a high-stakes, mid-performance outfit change—a move choreographed by coach Mickey Perz and executed with the help of stylist Ica Villanueva.
- Week 1: The transition occurred just before their performance of “Zero Pressure.”
- Week 2: The group shed their denim ensembles during the bridge of their hit song “Strings.”
- Stacey admitted the group was most nervous about this part: “Sabay-sabay natanggal, sobrang smooth… ‘Yun talaga ‘yung pinakakinakabahan kami.”
Beyond representing the Philippines, the group dedicated their milestone performance to their home network, ABS-CBN, which is currently facing a new shutdown proposal in the legislature.
- Jhoanna, the group’s leader, stated: “Inaalay namin ‘to sa ABS-CBN family namin. Hopefully, mabawasan kahit konti ‘yung pain ‘yung bigat na nafe-feel nila through our performances.”
Following their Coachella success, BINI’s global momentum shows no signs of slowing down:
- GRAMMY Museum: The group is set to appear at the Global Spin Live on April 21.
- Billboard Women in Music: BINI will be honored at the prestigious ceremony on April 29.
- New Projects: Leader Jhoanna hinted at several upcoming international and domestic projects following their return from the United States.
