BINI’s Maloi has set the record straight regarding rumors linking her to OPM icon Rico Blanco.
During the Nation’s Girl Group’s appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Friday, Maloi addressed the speculation and emphasized that fake news is an inevitable part of being in the public eye.
“May mga tao talaga na gagawa at gagawa ng fake news about you, and feeling ko it just shows na you are relevant,” she stated. “As long as wala kang natatapakang tao, just do what you love. Fake news will always be there, so stop spreading fake news this 2025. Stop it.”
How the Rumors Started
When asked about the most recent misinformation about her, Maloi pointed to the claims that she and Rico Blanco were dating. The rumors surfaced in early January after she was spotted in La Union at Blanco’s new hotel, Motel Mambo.
However, Maloi clarified that the trip was her first time meeting the singer-songwriter, as they share mutual friends. Blanco hosted several artists, including Ben&Ben’s Pat Lasaten and Agnes Reoma, Ischi, Over October’s Joshua Caleb Lua, Blaster Silonga, Zild Benitez, and photographer Shaira Luna.
She explained that a misleading cropped photo sparked the speculation.
“May videos na in-upload sa X, pero na-crop at screenshot sa bad angle. Mukha kaming nagho-holding hands, tapos in-upload sa Facebook at kumalat na may mga headlines,” she said.
To stop the spread of false claims, Maloi immediately took to social media.
“Nung nakita ko ‘yun, nag-tweet agad ako ng ‘Stop spreading fake news’ kasi ayoko nang lumaki pa ‘yung gulo,” she added.
BINI’s Upcoming Concert and World Tour
Despite the controversy, BINI remains focused on their music. The group is preparing for Grand BINIverse: The Repeat on February 15 at the Philippine Arena, followed by a world tour with stops in Singapore, Dubai, London, and the United States.
