Manny Pacquiao, the renowned Filipino boxing legend, is set to face Muay Thai icon Buakaw Banchamek in an exhibition boxing match. This highly anticipated event, billed as “The Match of Legend,” is scheduled for April 20 in Thailand. With a budget of $25 million or ₱1.36 billion, the match promises to be a significant event in the world of combat sports.
The bout will consist of six three-minute rounds with two-minute breaks, conducted under boxing rules. Pacquiao, aged 45, will compete at a catchweight of 70 kilograms or 154 pounds. Notably, Buakaw, known for his powerful switch kick and expertise in Muay Thai, will not be able to use his full range of Muay Thai skills, as the match will follow boxing rules.
Pacquiao, an eight-division world champion, has an impressive professional record of 62 wins, including 39 knockouts, eight losses, and two draws. His career in the ring has been marked by numerous memorable bouts and victories. In addition to this upcoming match, Pacquiao has also hinted at a potential rematch with his former rival, undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather.
This exhibition match follows Pacquiao’s recent victory in December 2022 against South Korean mixed martial artist DK Yoo in another exhibition bout. This upcoming match with Buakaw continues Pacquiao’s engagement in high-profile exhibition bouts since his last professional fight.
