Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo and his girlfriend, content creator and singer Chloe San Jose, shared that they believe a couple can decide to marry even without the approval of their families.
In a recent interview, the pair said that while family support is valuable, the most important factor in marriage is mutual understanding between the partners themselves. Yulo noted that as long as the couple is on the same page, outside opinions should not dictate their decision to tie the knot.
San Jose echoed the sentiment, explaining that involving too many people in the decision could complicate things. She emphasized that a healthy relationship should feel like a safe space where the couple can make choices together without pressure from others.
The couple has been together since 2020 and has been open about their relationship with fans. Discussions about their possible future marriage have drawn attention, especially after Yulo revealed he had previously tried to buy an engagement ring for San Jose but did not push through with the purchase at the time.
Yulo, one of the Philippines’ most celebrated gymnasts, gained international recognition after winning major titles in artistic gymnastics and representing the country on the global stage.
Despite public interest in their relationship, both Yulo and San Jose stressed that decisions about marriage ultimately belong to the couple and should be based on their understanding and commitment to each other.
